Man, had taken in the wolves, and domesticated them. Called them dogs. These 'dogs' thrived with man by their side, making it through the ages while wolves dwindled and neared extinction. Wolves managed to survive, somehow, slinking through the shadows of existence. A few dogs learned of them and were outraged by the beasts that killed their masters livestock, and occasionally their masters as well. A few hounds escaped, intent on destroying the race, and formed their own packs, so that they might rise against the wolves. They did just that, managing to drive the wolves North in a final battle. The wild dog and wolf numbers suffered dearly, the dogs have underestimated their counterparts, and with dwindling numbers on both sides, the fight was brought to a standstill.
